Saturday 10/4/2025 Afternoon Activities

Note: There is no cost for the Saturday activities, but space may be limited so we need a headcount. Please do not sign up for the Saturday activities if you plan to take or attend the Major Degree.

Saturday Afternoon Activities

1:00 PM: Guided tour of Brunswick Town/Fort Anderson – visitor center, colonial port archeological site, Civil War battery earthworks; point of contact (POC): Jim McKee, Site Manager.

1:00 PM: Private tour of Oak Island Lighthouse – newest and last lighthouse built in NC. Visitors should be aware that it is the only lighthouse in the country where the general public is allowed to climb to the top via ship’s ladders; closed toe shoes are required for the climb; POC: Bob Ahlers, President, Friends of Oak Island Lighthouse.

2:30 PM: Guided tour of the NC Maritime Museum at Southport – provides familiarization with the maritime events, entities, and industry that have affected the development of Southport and southeastern NC; POC: John Moseley, Museum.
